This weekend has been amazing, in the best way possible

<<< 03/30/2023 This weekend has been amazing, in the best sense. Partly thanks to three different events:

  • I have glimpsed part of the longing that God built into my soul, and clearly, it is a longing from Him, but through poverty. Defining poverty as the lack of something necessary, this idea can be understood. Materially, a poor person is one who has little money and needs more. Spiritually, then, a poor person is one who needs more Spirit, needs God. I believe I can affirm that every man is poor, in need of God; even when a man does not acknowledge his own poverty. Therefore, when we are called to be poor, what exactly are we called to? First, I believe we are invited to embrace this truth so personal to us and recognize ourselves as obsolete before an Absolute, incapable before an All-Powerful, in need of a merciful God. The greatest longing of my entire being (body, soul, and spirit) is God, for He is the Architect of man. At the same time, the greatest longing of God is me. Once I recognize my poverty, I must focus on remedying it, in whatever way, in the way God calls me, but poorly and simply. It is important for me to do this without forgetting the Gospel, where we are called to seek the good of others to the extreme while seeing the face of God, who wants to satisfy us, in this: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Also, once spiritual poverty is embraced and set on the path, we will begin to realize that even in the worst realities, we live in immeasurable wealth. Next to God, who is never enough and our soul always wants more, all other realities will seem more than sufficient. I long to reach Heaven, where I can enjoy in abundance, wealth, and fullness this good God.
  • On the other hand, a quite different idea. I have realized that sometimes I want to steal God’s Freedom. I want to know the where, when, and how; but like this, how can I enjoy? How can God surprise me if I want to know everything now? If I take away God’s Freedom, I will not be able to love Him well, I will not be able to reach the pinnacle of my existence. I must let Him act, although He already does, without being like a police officer looking for every answer. Our relationship is not an interrogation, He is neither Wikipedia nor a psychologist nor a mechanic. He is God, and ours is a love story.
  • Finally, it has made me very happy to see those who are always working hard for all of us resting and letting themselves be loved. I know it is hard for them, since their vocation is to give their all to others, but I am glad they have known how to give themselves to the rest by letting themselves be cared for.

It has been a wonderful three days, and I am aware that God has great plans both for me personally and for Hakuna. We haven’t seen anything yet!
