When Christmas Fits in an Embrace
Hogar Santa Bárbara experienced a real and moving Christmas, with Hakuna's visit, carols, and a special blessing for mothers and babies at Midnight Mass.
Christmas arrived at Hogar Santa Bárbara quietly, as important things do. It came wrapped in small cries, tired looks, and a joy that doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The mothers celebrated their first Christmas with their newborn babies, a celebration both new and old, filled with conflicting emotions: the happiness of holding life in their arms and the absence of families who, this year, could not be there.
In the morning, the home was filled with young voices. Hakuna’s visit broke the daily silence with Christmas carols, hot chocolate, and churros. At first, shyness; then, music. And when the music starts, everything else falls into place. They sang together, shared laughter, and for a while, time stopped weighing them down. Christmas became song and encounter.
The afternoon held one of those unforgettable moments. In the Santa Bárbara parish, during Midnight Mass, each mother and each baby received a special blessing. It was not just another gesture: it was a long embrace, one that supports when the road is fragile. There, among pews and silences, emotion became visible and shared.
The night ended at home. They prepared dinner themselves, with care, with affection, as those who know that details also save. They got ready, looked at each other, celebrated. Because even in difficult contexts, dignity is non-negotiable and joy is also cooked.
At Hogar Santa Bárbara, Christmas was neither perfect nor easy. It was real. And in that reality, among small lights and lives just beginning, a different Light was born: one that does not dazzle, but touches the heart.
